The Brazil Gateway builds upon Ohio State's more than 50 years of partnership and strategic engagement with Brazil. It focuses on four key areas: students, research, alumni and partnerships. The Brazil Gateway fosters connections and facilitates opportunities for students, researchers, alumni and partners.
The Brazil Gateway is located in the city of São Paulo, the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere known for its bustling atmosphere and multicultural population. São Paulo is the state's capital and holds the largest economy in Latin America. The gateway's office is situated in the Moema district, one of the premier business areas in the city.
Jane Aparecido
Jane Aparecido
Jane Aparecido is the senior director of the Brazil Gateway and is based in São Paulo. Aparecido focuses on facilitating academic collaborations and exchanges between Ohio State and Brazilian institutions and engaging with and developing opportunities for the Ohio State alumni community in Brazil.
Aparecido graduated from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with a Master of Laws (LL.M.), received her bachelor’s degree in law from PUC Campinas and a specialization from the University of Castilla-La Mancha. At Moritz, she interned at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and non-profit ECDI (Economic and Community Development Institute), as well as volunteered as a research assistant for Professor John Quigley. Aparecido also has a degree in education, and she has taught languages for over 10 years. She recently completed her PhD in international relations at the University of São Paulo, with a research period at the University of Toronto, Canada. Aparecido can be reached at aparecido.1@osu.edu.
Jacqueline Freitas
Jacqueline Freitas
Jacqueline Freitas is the business development manager of the Brazil Gateway and is based in São Paulo. Freitas focuses on developing and managing Ohio State’s partnerships with academic, industry, government and nonprofit organizations in Brazil for initiatives such as executive education programs and joint research. She also supports and engages with current and future students, alumni and faculty as she coordinates the Brazil Gateway communication and digital marketing plan.
Freitas majored in Social Communication with emphasis in Advertising and Marketing from Faculdade Casper Libero, in São Paulo, and has specializations in International Business from Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo, Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and Entrepreneurship & Innovation from Centro Universitário Adventista in São Paulo. Fabio Leite
Fabio Leite
Fabio Leite, associate professor of psychology at Ohio State Lima, is the academic director for the Brazil Gateway. A native of Brazil, he has worked closely with the Brazil Gateway since 2020 to present workshops on developing intercultural competencies in preparation to study, conduct research or work in another culture. In addition to his faculty appointment, Leite serves as a part-time senior advisor to connect with Ohio State’s 15 colleges and regional campuses to identify new partnership opportunities abroad. He works across disciplines to leverage existing connections and build strong relationships between Ohio State colleges/units and external partners.
