The Scientific Congress on Challenges in Disease Management and Outcome brought together 175 participants and showcased 50 speakers, moderators and panelists in Mumbai on Feb. 9 - 10. Organized by the India Gateway in collaboration with health partners in South Asia, this marked the fifth international conference of its kind, and strengthened the ongoing partnership between The Ohio State University and Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital.

The conference focused on critical areas of healthcare including maternal care and neonatal infections, evolving strategies in HIV and tuberculosis treatments, advancements in tropical disease vaccines, and the complexities of oncology and public health. Panel discussions provided a platform for expert faculty speakers to share their knowledge and insight on these pressing topics.

Attending the conference from Ohio State were Abhay Satoskar, Wexner Medical Center, and Raghu Machiraju, College of Engineering, and from the College of Medicine, Murugesan Rajaram, Amit Singh and Kartik Venkatesh. Speakers included Ohio State alumnus Shridhar Narayanan, '96 PhD Pharmacology, founder director and CEO of the Foundation for Neglected Disease Research, and Rajesh Deshmukh, public health specialist at the Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Sita Raiter, public diplomacy officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, also attended as the guest of honor.

The conference fostered rich networking opportunities, sparking considerable interest in partnership opportunities with Ohio State and served as a catalyst for knowledge exchange with a shared commitment to addressing healthcare challenges and improving outcomes in the region.
