Decoding the DNA of Operational Excellence (1)

Peter Ward, director of the Center of Operational Excellence at the Fisher College of Business, engaged the 20 participants at the Nashik campus of Mahindra Institute of Quality (MIQ) who were undergoing a short-term program on "ESSENTIALS OF LEAN & TPM." During his 90-minute session Ward spoke about ‘Decoding the DNA of Operational Excellence’ elaborating on the DNA of ‘Lean,’ scientific improvement method as well as touching upon the overall management system for operations excellence that includes governance, foundational and operational levels. He helped participants understand the importance of problem solving, strategic management, people development and daily management as well as organizational culture and its adopted standards.

Ward met with leadership of MIQ on its curriculum, sharing his own experiences working with various industry partners through the Center of Operational Excellence. Later he also visited a Mahindra automotive plant, learning about Mahindra’s implementation of lean principles and TPM from the production unit head and his team.

During his travel to India, Ward along with Manoj Garai, business development specialist for the India Gateway and Nikhil Tambe, director of the India Gateway, met with various other partners in industry and academia as part of continuing and new engagements for the Center for Operational Excellence.
