The Office of International Affairs serves as a university-wide resource for access, administration, development and risk oversight of university education abroad programming.
The processes for new program approval and reauthorization of continuing programs are designed to promote and maintain the integrity of Ohio State education abroad programming. Before initiating or continuing any education abroad activity, Ohio State faculty and administrators must obtain approval from the department chair (or designee), the college dean or designee and the college fiscal officer.
Prior to submitting a proposal, you are required to schedule a meeting with the appropriate Office of International Affairs staff and the education abroad liaison for your college.

There are three basic types of credit-bearing education abroad opportunities:

Submission/Review Process
After the initial meeting between OIA and the college liaison, a decision will be made as to whether an invitation to propose a program will be extended.
Programs managed by another U.S. or educational organization that are selected by an Ohio State academic unit. Contact Jenny Kraft, program specialist, education abroad, and the appropriate college education abroad liaison.
Proposal deadlines vary by term:
Programs initiated by an Ohio State academic unit, requiring the university to enter into an international exchange agreement with an international institution. Contact Elizabeth Angerman, program specialist, education abroad, and the appropriate college education abroad liaison.
Every new agreement will have an estimated term start date based on the time of the proposal's approval:

Once a program has been approved and has run successfully, academic units will be required to determine if the program will be offered again through the reauthorization for continuing education abroad programs process.
